As a platoon leader in Vietnam, as the commanding officer of SEAL Team Two, as the executive officer of UDT-22 and as commanding officer of SEAL Team Six, Bob Gormly performed two tours of duty in Vietnam, as well as top-secret missions in the Persian Gulf and the Caribbean.

Throughout my years as a SEAL, I worked with some of the most outstanding people ever to serve our country. Any success I had was due to their dedication and support. Being a SEAL means being a part of one of the most tightly knit teams there can be. Our lives literally depended on each other. Most SEALs I know were not Rambo, and they weren't "rogue warriors" either. They were professionals with the toughest jobs in the world. They were highly trained, highly motivated men who executed dangerous missions on a routine basis. For them, it was "another day at the office," even when it involved parachuting into high seas, or moving up a canal through waist-deep mud on the way to attack a Viet Cong stronghold. I am extremely proud to have worked with these men, and honored to have this opportunity to tell a little bit of their history, as I've lived it. This story is as much theirs as it is mine. Certainly the finest compliments I have received on this book is when former teammates read the book and call me to say, simply, "Good job." Two small words, but they are the highest praise I could have gotten.
